THE BAD…First test drive this morning after intake install late last night…warmed car up, hit WOT once at operating temperature…smooth HARD pull then 5k rpm and BOOM! Limp mode + CEL. a restriction to this big motor, but hot IATs are hurting me far more. Ended up keeping my stock LS2 MAF after a LOT of informative discussion with Patrick at VR in Houston. My original plan was to go SD when I bought the VR, but this added cost and time, and kept putting the project further down the road. So much so that I had ZERO hesitation about hacking up my fan shroud, our nation’s budget deficit, a few baby seals, and anything else that stood between Porkchop and cold air. I mention this so that the VR haters will pause to consider how DESPERATELY I needed a better intake setup. Have previously been using a home-made LPE setup for last 18 months that suffered from major heat-soak.IATs got up to 170* in the EVENING back in June of this year. I bought the VR because I am poor, and in desperate need of a true CAI, QUICKLY! VR is based in Houston, which means next day shipping for me as a fellow Texan. Don’t want to turn this thread into a debate. I wavered in posting this because the VR is such a hated-on subject around these boards, and everyone is jumping on the Svede wagon. Took some magic and some (yes I'll say it) 'luck', because my motor has a FAST92 that, unbeknownst to me until this project, pushes the TB 1" closer to the radiator.
